#05 Working The Works of Jesus

By Paul B Thomas

Topic: The works of Jesus

Scripture Reading:

Purpose:

1.Does Jesus heal all?
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil (Acts 10:38.)

2. Does Jesus have all power?
Jesus came and spake unto them, saying ,all power is given unto me in heaven and earth (Matt 28:18).

3.Did he assign us to do his works
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these(John 14;12-14).I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9;4).

4.Who has all power?"
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:18-20).But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1;8).

5.What authority have we do carry out his mission?
Behold, I give
unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16;13).

6.What specific power have we?
Go into all the world and preach the gospel“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. (Romans 1;16).

7.What works are we do do?
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Matthew 10:8).

8.If we have his power to carry out his mission then surely we must do it in his name?
And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? (Acts 4:7).And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. (Acts 4:33).

9. Is faith required by the sick
Thy people shall willing in the day of thy power (Psalm 110:3).

10. Can the believer who trust in the name of Jesus heal the sick?
Then he had called unto him his twelve disciples he gave them power against unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal all manner of sicknesses and all manner of disease (Matt 10:1) (Mark 6;7)

11. Can the believer work the works of God too?
I must work the works of him that sent me
, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. (John 9;4)Wist ye not that I must be about my faiths business (Luke 2;49)

NOTES:

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. (John 9:1-6).

As Jesus and his disciples (having left the temple, where the Jews were going to stone him) were passing through one of the streets of the city, they saw a blind beggar, who, to move the people’s compassion, told them he was born in that miserable condition. The disciples, on hearing this, asked their Master whether it was the man’s own sin, or the sin of his parents that brought about this terrible state in which he was found in?

The man born blind represents a generation that is spiritually ignoract of the workings of the Lord. Thy label sicknesses just like the disciples did here in this text, not understanding the correct cause behind this mans condition. Remeber the case of Elisha and the young prophet. The young prophet saw Elijahs enemies surrounding him. Elijah had to correct him by praying Lord Open his eyes that he may see’ 2 Kings 6:15-17). The implication is clear the servants eyes were closed. For we label things as we see them. God has to open our spiritual eyes to see things in this world anmd things in the lives of others, as he sees them.

Look at Jesus answer to the disciples. Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned nor his parents — So as to bring this suffering upon him; nor was the punishment of either the chief design of this dispensation of Providence; but that the works of God — Namely, his miraculous works; should be made manifest in him

Paul prayed, The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 1:18).

To do greater works we must
see in the Spirit. we must have the revelation of the supernatural. This is a key to unlocking the manifested presence of God in our neighbourhood and towns.

What are the works of God?
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Matthew 10:8).
Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.( John 20:23).

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: (v4). Miracles, signs and wonders confirming the spoken word. ‘And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.’ (Mark 16:20).
