Apostolic Fundamentals (pt4) Christ was Buried
Christ's death was voluntary as he said of himself no man taketh away my life from me but i lay it down of myself I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it up again (John 10;18) this scripture proves his divinity only god has such power over death. His death was voluntary, he choose it. He declared it, he predicted it and prophesied it, he foretold of it and experienced it.First Christ died, AND WAS BURIEDNow we shall look at his burial. It was the universal custom of the Jews to bury their dead, It would be unreasonable to think he was not buried. all men are buried since all men die. and it is stated christ died and Christ died for our sins. Not only is his burial represented typically but it is also prophesied. The psalmist declared, "My flesh shall rest in hope for thou wilt not leave my soul in hell neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption" (Psalm 16:9,10). "He was cut off from the land of the living and he made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death" (Isaiah 53:8). "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." (Isaiah 53;12).Jesus, who as a man sentenced to death by the Romans had not the favour of the sepulchre but their bodies were exposed to the fowls of the air and the beasts of the field, Their body was heavily guarded, a centurion was set to watch over him (Matthew 27:54). Once assured that the accused one was dead, the centurion made a report to Pilate and then returned to watch over the body.It was the custom of the Jews that whoever suffered by their law should be buried that same day they knew the words of Moses who said, If a man hath committed a sin worthy of death and he be put to death and thou hang him on a tree, his body shall not remains all night upon the tree but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day Deuteronomy 21:22,23).He made his grave with the wicked. (Isaiah 53;8)The holy one making his grave with the wicked. The holy one becoming labelled as a "wicked" one. Himself making himself guilty of then crimes of humanity. Himself being made a curse for us all. The necessity of ones redemption, our salvation. without his intervention upon death, we ourselves would experience the full wrath of the almighty come the judgement day. But the fact remains "Christ died for our sins as saith the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15;3).TBC
Apostolic Fundamentals (Pt3)
Exploring the death burial and resurrection of Jesus.CHRIST PREDICTS HIS DEATH BY CRUCIFIXIONThe Son of man to be lifted up as a serpent on a pole. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted dup (John 13;14). So here we see Christ as prophet confirming Moses word as a prophet. The Son of man to be delivered into the hands of men.Let these saying sink down into your ears; for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men ( Luke 9;44).The Son of man to be condemned to death.Behold we go to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes and they shall condemn him to death (Matthew 20;18).The Son of man to be scourged and Crucified. And shall deliver him to the gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify him (Matthew 20;19).The Son of man gives his life for many.Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many (Matthew 20;28).
Apostolic Fundamentals (pt2 Christ Died)
First the representations and predictions of the fathers of our faith.and the oracles of scripture to prove that Christ was to suffer and die for our sins. First in type, where we see Abraham offering up his son, his only son as a sacrifice unto God. (Genesis 22). Isaac is the sacrifice who bears the wood and a lamb is slain in his stead. therefore Isaac bearing the wood signified Christ the lamb of God, bearing the cross. When the fiery serpents by the Israelites and many people died, Moses by the command of God made a serpent of brass and put it on a pole and it came to pass that whoever was bit when he beheld the serpent on the pole, he lived (Numbers 21;9). Christ himself told Nichodemus, "As Moses lifted up the serpent in thew wilderness even so must the son of man be lifted up" (John 3;14).The paschal lamb did plainly signify the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins fo the World and the preparing of it did not only represent the cross but the command of the passover ordinance that also foretold Christs death. so we see the death of Christ thousands of years before his birth even was represented by the law and the prophets. Not only is Christ's death burial and resurrection predicted and promised but it is also spoken by the prophets. Zechariah declared they shall look upon him whom they pierced (Zech 12;10). The prophet and king David declared by the anointing of the spirit of the Lord who spoke through him, they pierced my hands and my feet" (Psalm 22;16)The Romans and Jews crucified him and bore witness to his death. On the cross was witnessed the his death in Hebrew Greek and latin, "Jesus of Nazareth the king of the Jews" (John 19:19 ) So to deny Christ death is to deny Christs words, in scripture and to and through the prophets. through which he spoke.
Christ DIED for our sins... (1 Corinthians 15;3-8).
The punishment was paInful and shameful, torturous and barbaric. He died like countless many of others who for their faith died by the hands of the roman warlords who would have no other god but Ceaser, yet this man Jesus, was to to himself die for all men. No man would die for the sins of others except he be God, in the flesh, hence Christ died to bring salvation. Without him becoming our sacrifice mankind has no forgiveness of sins or redemption either. Christs death is an event witnessed by many as the bible tells, history reveals and man bears witness too as we shall see in the coming days.TBCPaul
Apostolic Fundamentals (pt1. Christ Died)
My friend who is a muslim by faith informed me that the Quran teaches that Jesus did not die but rather was taken to heaven by Allah and will one day return to earth. Here is a brief rendering of the Quran: "..but they killed him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so to them(the resemblance of Isa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man) and those that differ therein are full of doubts. They have no certain knowledge, they follow nothing but conjure, for surely they killed him not ( ie Isa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary) 158 But Allah raised him (Isa) (Jesus) up (with his body and soul) unto himself (and he is in the heavens) and Allah is Ever All powerful and All wise" (155-158).I have written a mini book for muslims entitled "Jesus or Islam" however I was provoked to write a few chapters on our apostolic fundaments beginning with this chapter "Christ Died for our sins" here is a "segment" which I shall I be continuing these next few days. The Quran states that we believers are full of doubt. I disagree i have not yet met a genuine believer in Christ whoever doubted the death burial and resurrection of Jesus, We have met him and his presence and person has forever changed our lives. the proof did not start with us but the law and prophets of old....The proof that Jesus died, was buried and rose again is clear in scriptures by bother types and prophecies thousands of years prior to Christ's coming and by the many witnesses present at the death, the disciples and many others after he rose again as well as the millions of Christians who today's testified to the resurrected life of the God man as their life transformational experience just as Jesus himself had promised. In contrast to the Qurans account by one man who lived hundreds of years after Jesus and therefore was not present at his death. we have a choice to believe one man who was against Christ or believe the report of Christ himself through the law and prophets. which is the report of the Lord.Isaiah the prophet declared,
(ISAIAH 53;1-8) Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2.For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3.He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4.Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5.But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6.All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7.He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8.He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.8.
9.And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12.Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
